Soccer Days

Brooklyn started soccer practices yesterday! We figured it would be a good activity for her because she loves to run. It is a coed team and there is one other girl on the team. When it was all over she comes over to me red in the face (from running so much) and says, "Mom, I am not the fastest." I reassured her that that is okay because she was good at other things, kicking and dribbling. She has always ran against Avy and was always the fastest until now.

We are so proud of her for trying new things and think she will be really good at this sport. First game is on wednesday and will send photos out to shortly follow.

It's about time

3 months, 13 weeks, 94 days, or 2256 hours. However it is calculated it is a lot of time! Especially in the eyes of a child. That is the amount of time Cameron was away for! And are we glad to have him back? YOU BETCHA!

So what I am doing wasting my time on here? Good question! I will update again later and I have some time to catch up on.

Limbo limbo

I have always been a bit of a "planner" or "dreamer". I have ideas on how I like things to happen and try to do it that way. However, I've noticed that I've become more flexible over the years. Just kind of rolling with the punches.

Cameron was suppose to come home tomorrow evening because he is starting school on Monday. But, his office is still open and he could still stay and work and make some nice extra money. He wrote emails to his professors to see if he would be missing something BIG in the first week. Two teachers were okay, but his English teacher was strongly against it!

So now we are in a 24 hour limbo state where it all depends on how well he does today at work. I offered to go to his class for him. English is something I could handle, but would have to find someone at 8:30 in the morning to watch the girls.

CTR is a good phrase to live by, but what is right in this case. Come home go to school or stay and make more money....

Now I feel so unprepared!! That drives my insides crazy. I will plan as much as possible either way... and let you know.

Wedding Dancers

(Little David Last year)

This past Friday we went to a Wedding Reception up in the Denver area. It was quite a fun event and really classy. It was held at a country club not too far away from the Temple. We went there going that Brooklyn was going to see her very special little friend... Little David (he is called little David because Brooklyn has an uncle David).

Little David is a boy she has known since birth. Even after moving from Idaho Cameron's work kept on throwing us back together with little David's family. Last summer they played all the time in Florida (and also the summer we were in Minnesota) and she is now old enough to miss her friends and asks about him all the time.

At first he didn't know what to think of her. So we ate our food and then they went out to the Foyer to play. Brooklyn had ask me earlier in the car if she could dance with David like a prince.

So she asked him to dance and he said, "I'm too full!" At first I saw the rejection in her face. But she quickly recovered when they started to dance (with a little encouragement). I wish my camera was working because it was priceless. She was beaming from ear to ear with pure joy and he had the "I can't believe I am doing this look." They danced a lot and ran around a lot. Her chasing him and then pulling in down as he held onto the railing of the banister.

She got the courage and asked the 6'6 groom to dance. She barely went past his knees. Little David came up and karate chopped the groom's hand off of Brooklyn. The groom looks over at me with his hands up in the air and had a big smile on his face. It seems that David didn't like another "guy" to be dancing with her. Brooklyn of course wanted to dance more with the groom and he said he couldn't because David wanted to dance with her. She was happy! And went off to dance/play with David some more.

The car ride home Brooklyn kept on wishing that David could like closer instead of Arkansas. The first "crush" is always the hardest to get over...

Here are some pictures of them together from the past.

We love the Olympics

Brooklyn had troubles sleeping last night (mainly because she took a 2 hour nap at 4 ). So her and I were watching the Olympics together! It was so neat to listen to her responses to the events. Here are some things she said:

As a Female swimmer was standing on the podium receiving the gold Brooklyn says;
"Hey that is my song!"
Later watching them swim:
"Mom I want to swim like that when I grow up."
Gymnastics watching:
"Mom can I do that when I am older? She looks so cool!"

It is during events like these that I am so proud to be an American and am grateful for the amazing American athletes out there whom my little girl can look to and strive to be like.
I have no talents that are close to these amazing women as far as swimming and gymnastics goes, but I can't feel like a part of it all because I am an America!
GO AMERICA WE LOVE YOU!

Oh my Camera

I've haven't posted anything for a while and there is a good reason... my camera is Broken. I am not sure what is wrong with it and where to take it (any suggestions would be great). I am going to try to replace the little battery and see if that helps. But without my camera I feel like I am missing lots of cute moments! Try telling two adorable little girls not to do anything cute! Needless to say it is impossible which makes me have to resort to old fashion documentations... journaling/writing. I know it is just horrible to even comprehend describing everything verses just showing it all (ha ha). To add to all my madness my printer/scanner isn't working either! I think it is about time Cameron comes home. What do you think? We are expecting him late on the 24th of August (just a little over a week away). He will be very busy when he gets home.

The North Pole!

The North Pole/Santa's Workshop!

We went to the North Pole with Cousins and Grandma Bass! The sign is cut off the top, but this the "North Pole" and was made out of ice. Brooklyn liked getting her bum cold and wet.

They rode the rides!

Rode on the Train!

Rode on the Reindeer!
Saw Santa and...

...sat in his sled!
It was a great day with little rain and lots of memories to cherish.

Library Party

Last Friday was our library District's "End of Summer Reading Party" at the Park.

The girls in an Ambulance! The chick fila cow tried to come and scared Avy completely! oops

The girls in a Cop Car! This is their first and only experience in the back of a cop car. Gruff the dog scared them as well. They were suppose to slide out to the other side, but he was there to greet them and came back out the way they went in.

Brooklyn got her hair sprayed and thought it was fun when she took a bath on her bubbles from her shampoo changed colors. They also got hearts and butterflies drawn on them (not on their face). They was a craft area and they made their own headbands.

Lastly, they got to sit a in real Helicopter!!
They had so much fun that afternoon and I am glad we went even though I was trying to talk my self out of it.

Bath Time Prayers

Almost a week ago I had an amazing experience while giving my girls their baths. I was trying to find a poem (or I would have posted this story sooner) about the best prayer this guy said wasn't on his knees, but when he was upside down and stuck (if any of you have any idea of the name of this poem, or have it, please let me know). Well our story goes like this...

...it all begins by my accident pron self in the kitchen on last Monday on Avy's Birthday. First I cut my left pointer finger while chopping tomatoes and then only minutes later I grated a nice chunk out of my knuckle of my right thumb. So I am sure you can imagine me with band aids on both hands.

The next morning it was time for the girls bath. I had no plastic gloves in the house, or I would have use them. I was able to use the less damage left hand to get them all wet, but when it came to washing time I had to use my right with the still opened sore on my thumb. Sure enough the soap got into and BURNED like crazy. So much that I started telling the girls that I had to hurry and get them all bubble free. As I start to panic with pain Brooklyn lays down, clasp her hands together and starts saying, "Dear Heavenly Father, please help my mommy's hand not burn..." she continued for a while me not hearing too much more until a little "amen" was said. Well, my hand still burned, but my heart was soften and I wasn't freaking out anymore on getting them out of the bath super fast.

Anyone that knows Brooklyn knows what a sweet and sincere spirit she has about her. I love the fact that she could pray (completely naked) in the bath tub for me. I didn't tell her to do it, she was I am sure, prompted by the spirit. God has truly sent me an Angel.
