Good Fortune

So we tried to make Fortune Cookies today. They look nothing like the "real" thing, but taste really good and it was fun writing little messages for them.

There was one message...

Oh Bumper

One week ago we got hit from a guy behind us who failed to yield at the yield sign. Yes, I had all 3 kids in the car and yes it was very scary. But LUCKILY no one got hurt and LUCKILY his insurance is paying for all of it!! Perhaps I should start counting my blessing...

Easter's Gone Wrong!

This is Lincoln in his Hospital bed at 3:30 Easter Morning!

For the last couple of years we have been having the worse luck on Easter's! This year Lincoln got Croup and had a bad attack during the night and I (after some debate) take him to the ER. We've had croup with Avy before and knew the signs, but he would cough so hard that he would gag and then spit up. So we returned home around 5:30 slightly better and not well rested.
Last year, Avy had a Broken arm and luckily her blue cast matched her blue dress. The year before that I had kidneys stones and missed church in fear of throwing up every where. Then before then Brooklyn had sprained her wrist swinging around with daddy!! That is 4 Bad Easters in a row in 6 years of marriage (so yes I would say it is our unlucky holiday). But we truly do love Easter and all the fun things we get to do!

Easter Cantata

Each year Cameron sings in a Easter Cantata create by the amazing Sally Deford! It was a wonderful, wonderful concert with music that really moves people! The talent is out standing! Easter Egg Hunting
Growing up, my family use to hide our hard boiled Easter dyed eggs outside. I always thought this was fun and smart (so if you lost one it wouldn't stink up your home for days). So after lunch and in-between General Conference Sessions we went over to our club house and hide eggs in the outside area. You will notice in the photos that the ground is not grass. There is a good reason for this. I would have loved for us to go out and play in the grassy areas, however, there our deer and little bunnies who are there every day leaving their "mark" if you know what I mean. We didn't want to step all in that, so we went to plan B (the club house).

Ut-oh!!! Where is that pink egg??

"No Candy! No Fun!" so he throws it. Of course right? Because that is what little boys do, throw everything.

Easter Morning

The girls woke up Easter morning quite excited! I was still quite tired. And Avy was the first awake. I told her she could go down stairs and look at her basket and eat one candy, but not to go all the way down stairs. Well Brooklyn wakes up and doesn't get the same instructions. The next thing we hear are some giggling girls from all away down stairs! I wasn't that upset only sad that I didn't get to take their pictures of all of the excitement!

It is hard to get a little boy, who knows what is inside the eggs, to look up for a cute photo.

Egg Dyeing

The girls enjoyed dying eggs on Saturday afternoon during the 2nd session of Conference.

General Conference

General Conference this year was AMAZING!! Their were so many great talks and can't wait to read them all to their fullest next month! My kids did so well too. Here above they are coloring their work sheets we printed from the church website (they also played an apostle matching game online). One of the sweetest moments of the 2 days happened after Conference at dinner time. We were asking my parents (who came over for dinner and for the Cantata) what was their favorite talk. Brooklyn chimes in and told us about her favorite one was about the lost baby cow and how the Mother was the one that knew it was in the shade and was the only one that could bring it back (not the cowboys). I was so glad she was listening, especially to this talk, because it taught of a Mother's love!! Which is something I truly want her never to doubt.
I loved it when President Monson talked about his wife and knew he would be embarrassing her but kept on going. It was so sweet to hear his love for her. Also I enjoyed the story of the 14 year old boy who while on his death bed, told his Father, "Never", that he would never forget Christ! What a testimony builder! It was a great Conference!

Easter Egg Chocolate Dipping

Cameron saw the commerical for the rice crispy treats that were covered in chocolate and requested that we would make them. After making them, we decided it was a lot more fun to make then to eat! Everyone helped out, even the Link.

Poor Brooklyn had been sick for 3 days with a nasty cough and runny nose and her very rosy cheeks.

Easter Dinner

This year I made our Easter dinner!! I received modest raves about the food. This is what we had: Pineapple Soda Ham, Tarragon-Almond Green Beans, corn, crestant rolls, pickles, olives, applesauce, and cheesy scalloped potatoes! For dessert we had apple crisp with ice cream!

So this Easter started on a low note but ended on a High. Mostly I am grateful for the reminder of the Atonement and the love that Christ has for me! Just to think it could have been a lot worse without him. :-)
